I had a beautiful spiritual experience during Ramadan. I had finished eating, and started to pray. I was standing in a pitch black room, no light, the curtains were drawn, before sunrise. My eyes were tightly shut, and in my vision was darkness. As I was praying, I started to see a tiny cloud of faint moonlight. Slowly this cloud started to expand, becoming bigger and bigger, and brighter, flooding my vision, room and body.

My eyes were still shut, but I realised that I could see faintly, everything in the room. I could see the sofa, the curtains, the pattern on the lino/floor. I started to have a profound feeling of joy and happiness. Tears of joy started to stream down my face, and the light became brighter and brighter, almost sunlight, but really just bright moonlight.

I thought to myself, is this really happening? I waved my hand in front of my face, and I could see it, I could see my legs, my feet, but my eyes were still shut, I felt connected to everything, I could feel my mind and heart expanding in every direction, and all my worries, anxiety left me, and I was engulfed by a feeling of pure joy.

Every time I whispered the words, God is Great, I saw a flash of light, like lightening. I didn't want this state to end, but slowly the light and the feeling of bliss, started to dissipate. After about 15 minutes, everything was black again. For the whole day, I was praising God in my mind, for literally, showing me the Light.
