Totally ridiculous to tie virtue with being a servant of the husbandโs whole family. itโs actually a sharโi right for the husband to provide independent quarters for his wife. This whole idea that the husbandโs family effectively own the movement of the wife has caused so many disastrous marriages that Iโve seen. This may be common among Indo Pakistanis, but itโs not common in many, many other Muslim cultures.
