The Jewish Messiah and The Prophesy Fuelling the War on Iran | Dr. Ali Ataie

Join the 30 Days of Goodness challenge:
Today we discuss Dajjal, Iran, Israel, and the powerful religious symbolism surrounding conflict in the Middle East. As tensions rise across the region, ancient scriptures and end-times prophecy are increasingly invoked in political rhetoric and public discourse.
In this conversation, we explore how Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions interpret themes such as Purim, Amalek, messianic expectations, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the role of apocalyptic narratives in shaping modern geopolitics. How are these texts being understood today? And how should they be interpreted in light of current events?
Joining us is Dr. Ali Ataie, a scholar of biblical hermeneutics whose work sits at the intersection of Sacred Languages, Comparative Theology, and Comparative Literature. At Zaytuna College, Dr. Ataie has taught Arabic, Creedal Theology, Comparative Theology, the Sciences of the Qur’an, Introduction to the Qur’an, and Seminal Ancient Texts—helping students engage deeply with classical religious traditions while addressing contemporary questions.
Dr. Ataie completed his MA in Biblical Studies at the Pacific School of Religion in 2011, before earning his PhD in Cultural and Historical Studies in Religion from the Graduate Theological Union in 2016.
He is also a native Persian speaker and is proficient in Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew, allowing him to engage directly with the sacred texts of multiple traditions in their original languages.
In this episode we examine the intersection of theology, scripture, and geopolitics—and how religious narratives about the end of times continue to shape conversations about the future of the Middle East.

37:35 Who the Jews are waiting since they rejected Messiah? 😮😮
There is a need to understand the meanings of Messiah. The term Messiah in holy Scriptures is not necessarily the name of a single individual. Rather, it is a title given to different persons who possess certain divinely appointed attributes and are chosen by God for a particular mission. In religious scriptures, individuals who are specially anointed and appointed by God are referred to as “Messiahs.”
The first Messiah, according to the prophecies of the Bible, was sent about two thousand years ago specifically for the people of Israel. This Messiah was Jesus, the son of Mary (as). His mission was to reform the people of Israel and guide them back to righteousness and obedience to the Mosaic Law.
The Bible also contains descriptions about the advent of a second Messiah who had to appear with a universal message for people of all nations and religions after Jesus. Jesus was the last prophet who was sent to reform the people of Israel, and he indicated that another prophet would come after him with a complete Law. According to biblical prophecy, this figure was to arise in the region of Paran as prophet Moses(as) informed: (Deuteronomy 33:2):''And he said, the Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them''. The Prophet of Islam(sa) was sent as a universal guide for all humanity. His message was not limited to a particular nation or tribe but was for people of all lands and religions.
In addition, some descriptions of the Bible and other holy scriptures also promise about the advet of a third Messianic figure for the guidance of our age at the beginning of the seventh millennium. According to the prophecies of different scriptures this period corresponds to approximately two hundred years ago, around the middle of the nineteenth century(1850). Many descriptions of earlier prophets indicate that the Promised Messiah would be born toward the end of the sixth millennium and would appear at the beginning of the seventh millennium. Followers of Moses and Jesus agree that counting from the time of Adam to present era falls within the seventh millennium of human history.
Because of these expectations, followers of the three major Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—began, particularly from the middle of the nineteenth century, to anticipate the appearance of the Messiah in light of the prophecies contained in their sacred scriptures. A passage from the Zohar, an important text of Jewish mystical tradition, reflects a similar expectation. It states: “In the 600th year of the sixth thousand [i.e., 5600, or 1839–1840 CE], the gates of wisdom on high and the wellsprings of lower wisdom will be opened. This will prepare the world to enter the seventh thousand, just as a man prepares himself toward sunset on Friday for the Sabbath.” (Zohar 1:117a) Some Christian scholars also expected the return of Christ around the middle of the nineteenth century. For example, certain interpretations within Christian communities pointed to the year 1844 according to the Christian calendar. Because of such expectations, the Christian world in the nineteenth century became deeply engaged with the subject of the anticipated Messiah. During that time, particularly in America and Europe, many pamphlets and tracts were published discussing why the Promised Messiah—who, according to their interpretations, was expected to appear during that era—had not yet appeared. Some writers responded with disappointment, suggesting that since the expected time seemed to have passed, people should instead consider the Church as representing or symbolically fulfilling that role.
However, God Almighty fulfilled His promise and sent the Messiah according to His plan and appointed Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in India as the Promised Messiah of this era of seventh millennium (End Time ) at the appointed promised time, with the mission of renewing faith and promoting justice and peace in the world. The Messiah of this age called upon humanity to establish universal peace and reconciliation and motivated the sovereigns of the world to take part in achieving peace on earth. In his Message of Peace he has advised: “This is the time of the Promised Messiah. God will certainly create a way for the world, which is currently filled with persecution, injustice, and bloodshed, to be filled with justice, peace, and reconciliation. Blessed are the sovereigns and kings who play a part in achieving this objective.” He asserts that God Almighty has never discriminated between one people and another. It illustrates by the fact that all the potentials and capabilities which have been granted to one people by God, have also been granted to all other races inhabiting, for example, in Arabia, Persia, Syria, China, Japan, Europe and America etc. The earth created by God provides a common floor for all people alike, and His sun and moon and many stars are a source of radiance and provide many other benefits to all alike. Likewise, all peoples benefit from the elements created by Him, such as air, water, fire and earth, and similarly from other products created by Him like grain, fruit, and healing agents, etc. These attributes of God teach us the lesson that we, too, should behave magnanimously and kindly towards our fellow human beings and should not be petty of heart and illiberal. The righteous of all ages have testified that following God’s ways works like an elixir for the people and the survival, both physical and spiritual, of human beings depends on the same eternal truth that man should follow the virtuous attributes of God Who is the Fountainhead of all that is essential for survival. Similarly, a human being without the faculty of compassion is no human at all''. (Message of Peace).
Furthermore, some interpretations of biblical prophecy describe the coming of a fourth Messianic figure who will appear at the end of the seventh millennium, a time associated with the final stage of human history.
Amazing, good historical information. Love it Jizaka allah

Unfortunately, some Jews of this age —particularly certain political leaders such as Benjamin Netanyahu—appear to misunderstand the message of the Bible’s verses regarding the Messiah.
Firstly Political leaders are entrusted primarily with the responsibility of governing their nations and managing worldly affairs. Matters of faith, prophecy, and the fulfillment of divine promises belong to God Almighty alone, who brings them to pass according to His wisdom and through those whom He chooses. When political authority attempts to define, interpret, or control religious truth, it often leads to confusion and misunderstanding. No human being possesses the authority to determine when or where a promised Messiah should appear, or to declare the fulfillment of God’s promises. Such matters lie entirely within the will and wisdom of God. Therefore, it is not the job of Netanjahu to proclaim and dictate the coming of a Messiah according to his own expectations. His responsibility is governance, while the realization of divine prophecy remains in the hands of God alone.
Secondly, it is difficult to understand why some Jews are still waiting for a Messiah who, according to the Bible, was already sent by God Almighty about two thousand years ago for the people of Israel, exactly at the time promised in the scriptures. Many among the twelve tribes of Israel accepted Jesus, the son of Mary, as the Messiah. However, some among the Jewish community and their later generations did not accept him and continue to wait for the coming of that Messiah. At times, it appears as though certain individuals act as if the coming of the Messiah were a matter of their own decision or expectation, rather than something determined by the will and promise of God. The fulfillment of divine prophecies, however, lies solely in the hands of God Almighty and not in human planning or preference.
