It hasn't been proven that Muhammad was a prophet at all. As for the claim he was the last prophet, the Mormons would disagree with you and tell you Joseph Smith was a prophet.

Long time ago i hear of this Prophet Muhamad so i asked my brother of faith what was his prophecy and miracles he did. So far there is no prophecy from Muhamad that was ever given to anyone and the only miracle was him flying on a donkey to Mecca with him as the only witness. I told by brother in faith that his faith in this prophet without prophecy is indeed beyond any understanding to me..

Mohammed was the last "prophet" because nowadays if someone would proclaim himself as a prophet nobody would believe him anymore!!! In former days people were less educated and didn't know anything about the real natural world, cosmology and evolution!
That's why they could easily be deceived! But even nowadays, due to indoctrination from childhood on with all that supernatural nonsense of the religion of their parents and their community, due to social pressure and suppression, due to a lack of a PROPER scientific education especially about evolution and cosmology and often due to a lack of reasoning abilities people are still prepared to accept the most stupid and cruel supernatural "miracles" and doctrines one could think off!
And take for instance the "last prophet Mohammed"!
Here we have an of course non-existing "Allah" who, after waiting more than two hundred thousands years since the Homo sapiens came into existence, finally decided to reveal himself to all humanity of the whole world. And to do so, he "revealed" "himself" to a totally ignorant peasant (Mohammed) , who lived in the desert during the bronze or iron age, who could not read nor write, without the presence of any witnesses and by the way who was a child abuser too! Absurdity squared! What a stupid, ineffective and cruel method to spread messages that are intended for all humanity of the whole world! After more than thousand years a large part of the world still has not even heard about islam!
