Khadijah’s Multiple Rewards
- The wonderful qualities of Khadijah were justly rewarded by the Lord of Glory. Abu Hurairah reported that Gabriel approached the Prophet and stated, “O Messenger of Allah! This is Khadijah presenting you with a meal featuring meat soup [or some food or drink].
- Upon her arrival, welcome her in the name of her Lord [i.e., Allah] and in my name, and convey to her the joyful news of a qasab [jewel-studded canes] palace in Paradise, where there will be no noise or exhaustion [trouble]” (Al-Bukhari). Furthermore, the Prophet stated, “The finest women of the world are Mary [while she lived], and the finest women of the world are Khadijah [while she lived]” (Al-Bukhari). This adds to her beauty, immense fame, and good manners. Thus, these traits earned her the title of the virtuous woman. These attributes and qualifications made her desirable to numerous Quraishi men seeking to marry her. However, it appeared that her initial marriage experience led her to reject all of the offers. Her focus on her business and other responsibilities may have also contributed to her rejection of these offers. She stayed single until she grew older and neared the age of forty.
Marriage to Muhammad: A Union of Faith and Love
The name trustworthy, given to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), a paragon of virtue, became well-known to her. What her servant, Maisarah, told her about Muhammad’s remarkable conduct in trading and the significant profits he earned during their recent business journey to Syria piqued her keen interest. This caused Khadijah to dispatch someone to him to subtly convey her desire to marry him. The wedding occurred, and both were thrilled due to the wonderful manners they possessed, which preceded the revelation . Their hearts felt the same emotion
Their marriage brought about peace and mutual support after he agreed to it. Despite being older than him, they had established a strong bond of respect and mutual respect. Together, they created a kind-hearted family that now boasts six children. They had their daughter, Fatima, who would be highly respected by the Muslim community. She lived an honorable life: successful businessman, devoted mother, and the first Muslim to have received his support in their faith. Muhammad had two sons and four daughters with Khadija. Regrettably, both of their sons passed away at a young age, emphasizing the difficulties that the Prophet’s household encountered. Ziab, Ruqiyyah, Umm Kulthum, and Fatimum were crucial figures in the early Islamic era.

The first among them was Al-Qasim, from whose name the well-known title of the Prophet, namely Abu Al-Qasim, originated. The couple was then graced with Abdullah, who was also referred to as At-Tayyib and At-Tahir. Yet, due to some Divine wisdom, they all perished in their early stages.
This occurred prior to Muhammad being appointed as a Prophet. Once he was appointed as a Prophet, he was granted the following daughters in this sequence: Zainab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthoom, and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them).
Supporter of the Messenger
The significance of Khadijah was clearly demonstrated in its finest and most complete manner from the moment her husband was appointed as a Prophet until her passing. The Messenger of Allah was inclined towards solitude and distancing himself from people and their materialistic world for the sake of contemplation and reflection. The Prophet would go to the cave of Hiraa’ on the Mountain of Mercy (Jabal Ar-Rahmah). He would bring along the food and drink that his wife Khadijah had made for him.
He would stay for several days and nights there, especially during the month of Ramadan, in isolation. One day, the Prophet came back home after receiving the revelation for the first time, to share the initial Divine messages with Khadijah.
