https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsrV_Sh4vrY

For over a century, the Muslim world has been divided into nation states, borders, and political systems that often leave Muslims weak, divided, and unable to protect each other. From Palestine and Al Aqsa to conflicts across the Muslim world, many are asking a difficult question about unity, leadership, and the future of the Ummah.

In this episode of our Expert Question Series, we sit down with Dr. Ovamir Anjum, Professor and Endowed Chair of Islamic Studies in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Toledo. He is the co-editor of the American Journal of Islam and Society and recently appointed editor-in-chief for the review board at the Yaqeen Institute. His areas of research include Islamic history, theology, political thought, and Islamic intellectual history.

Dr. Anjum is the author of Politics, Law, and Community in Islamic Thought: The Taymiyyan Moment (Cambridge University Press, 2012) and Ranks of Divine Seekers: Translation of Ibn al-Qayyim’s Madarij al-Salikin (Brill, 2020), the first two of four volumes.

In this conversation, we explore the concept of Khilafah, Muslim unity, nation states, Islamic governance, economics, sanctions, and the role Muslims in the West play in the future of the Ummah. This is a deep discussion about the past, present, and future of the Muslim world and whether unity is the key to solving many of the problems Muslims face today.

  1. One good thing done by Westerners is elimination of khalifah good muslim brotherhood is broken otherwise this would be a global problem across all countries Muslim loyalty would be only to khalifah not to their nation

What do you mean kashmiri Rohingyas are oppressed It's their problem, why do they produce so much kids especially Rohingyas and bangladeshi

Coming to Kashmiri why do they joined all terrorist organisation and taking funding from pakistan and all
Also what about genocide of Kashmiri pandits and also reduction of minorities in Muslim dominated countries

U people never will speak this issue but will always play victim card

  2. In my country (Bangladesh) there are acertain group of people who get orgasm(Dont get me wrong) by saying Khilafa. And they dont do anything to bring Khilafa. They just do fatwaaah against modern tech, education, economy etc etc etc.

  3. Most of the Muslims are in a bad shape. May Allah forgive us and guide us. There's no way to give up. At least we have one path network and other Muslims who are contributing tremendously to the ummah. Allah forgive me aamiin.

  4. People fantasize about the khilafah yet they want you to unite with the people that curse the very people who established the first khilafah.

  5. Khilafah fanatics are only that Fanatics. When it comes to actually implementing the shari'ah, they'll say you are too extreme.

Allah subhanahu wat'ala will bless us with khilafah when it's the right time. And it won't be granted by uniting with those who curse the Khulafa Ar-Rasyidin.

  6. The same fanatics who sing songs of khilafah are the ones asking the ummah to unite with Shias even if they aren't upon haq. Just because they managed to land a few missiles on the enemy land.

They are not seeking khilafah for it's implementation of Shari'a and to obey. But rather for it's strength as a world superpower so that they might do to others what others have done to them.

  7. An absence of Muslim unity largely due to being subject to artificial borders internationally drawn across ethnic regions by the US and UK for constant conflict.

As long as these remain, the fitnah of nationalism and apathy towards fellow Muslims will also remain.

  8. I agree with you but I want to correct that we muslims in India are not even comparable to Palestine China etc . We are in no sense facing any kind of genocide here and freely practicing islam. Even kashmir has improved a lot now

  9. How can that be achieved without khilafah. Nothing romanticizing! With nationalism nothing Will be achieved. Europeans are one country in disguise! I hate it when people try reinventing the wheel by speaking whims Just because they're opportune to speak in platform
