This is common in South Asian households. Nobody besides Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Indians do this.
Tips for living with in-laws:
1. Be aware that Allah is watching every time you interact with your mil(mother in law) or dil (daughter in law) and you will be asked on Judgement day how you treated each other
2. Be forgiving, caring and considerate towards each other as you would be towards your own mother or daughter
3. Have low expectations of each other and high expectations of yourself (such as when it's time for cooking)
4. Any good you do for each other will be rewarded by Allah (silah rahmi)
5. Avoid oversharing in law details with your own family and friends – unless the situation is unbearable or it's something serious; in that case, consult a knowledgeable person first who has no emotional attachment to you. As they will more likely give you an unbiased fair-minded answer
An eye-opening episode. Jazak'Allah Khair! 🙏🏻
This is so good! I wish lots of Muslims watch this video. Please share it.
Subhan Allah, truly if we feared Allah in how we treat one another, and in our daily transactions, we would be careful with our tongues and actions. May Allah protect us from being an oppressor.
Why should there be friction? Wives need to respect the mother of the man they claim to love! Simple. Or don’t marry him! The mother made him and she needs to respect his mother, first and foremost! Too many people think marriage is based on western movies.
Deep. Just deep.
i will never marry (i don't commit zina) I'll just take care of my parents and then die solo after them inshallah
