Yusuf Chambers: Exactly what are the main objectives of fasting?
Dr. Zakir: Alhumdulillah, Was Salaatu Was Salaam Aala Rasoolillah Wa Ala Aalihi Wa Ashaabihi Wa Ajma’een, Amma Baad.
A’uzu billahi minash shaytan nir-rajeem, Bismillah hirrahman nirraheem.
Rabbish rahli Şadri Wa Yassir Li ‘Amri Wa Ahlul `Uqdatam Min Lisaani Yafqahu Qawli.
There are many objectives of fasting. I’ll just list the main ones.
No. 1 is seeking the pleasure of Allah (swt)
No. 2 is to obtain Taqwa, to acquire taqwa i.e. God consciousness, piety, righteousness and you can say when you acquire taqwa, but natural, when you’ll earn taqwa automatically even the pleasure of Allah (swt) comes under it. So the first one can be included in the second one.
The 3rd is for entering Jannah. We fast for entering Jannah
No. 4 is for the expiation of our sins.
No. 5 is to seek the reward of Allah (swt)
No. 6 is for the forgiveness of our sins. If we fast, Allah (swt) forgives our sins
No. 7 to acquire the Shifa i.e. the right to intercede, the right for intercession. If we fast the fast will intercede for us on the Day of Judgment.
No. 8 it is to realize the bounties of Allah (swt)
No. 9 to increase our will power and determination
No. 10 it is to acquire good deeds
No. 11 is to gain more honesty
No. 12 it is to decrease our desire, diminish ones desire
No. 13 to narrow the passage of the Satan, fasting narrows the passage of the Satan.
No. 14 to act as a shield, fasting is a shield for the believer.
No. 15 to abstain from false speech
And no.16 to abstain from false actions.
These are the objectives of fasting.

Doing Ramadan for a Muslim doing road or roof toping it's impossible to do Ramadan.
And then go fill your stomach with food and going to sleep 5-6 hours and then going for breakfast before sunrise to fill up again the stomach, it's absurd.

Salaam i came across a youtube video about a guy Abdullah sameer who left islam after being devote for 15 years because he had some doubts which he expresses in his youtube videos, he says he is now atheist (this was a few years ago). I AM TRULY SUPRISED that no scholar had answered the question he had doubts about…. I was wondering if Dr zakir or someone who is highly educated in islam could watch Abdullah sameer video "leaving islam after 15 years of promoting it" and answer the questions regarding the doubts/questions abdullah had which was the result of him leaving islam. I ask this because people will come across Abdullah video and may have the same doubts because his video is very convincing and straight to the point…. Dawah is part of islam so i hope to see a video to answer questions Sameer had doubts about to help others who may have the same questions and doubts but no answers.

sir you are famous scholar of Islam. I am a Islamic student and software engineer. The thing that most confused me is taqdeer. Mostly non Muslim zig zag us on this topic. And some scholars also confused on it. Finally in this ramzan I surprised when I got satisfactory solution or answer. If I am wrong please correct me if I am true please spread it because you have lot of audience to know that.
Know what is taqdeer.
Mostly we thinks that taqdeer is that practice that we did or some thing happened to us. For example I killed some one. Means it was written in my taqdeer or I killed by some one than it was my taqdeer.
I was making a video game software. we arranged different events in sofwar for example if player did this than this will happen if player did that than this will happen. Then I realized that what taqdeer is aqually. taqdeer is not only what we did but also That we didn't did.
For example I killed some one. At the same time their was an option to dont kill to any one. know what ever I did that is my aamaal اعمال and I have to answer on it on the day of judgment. And all the possible actions that could I do and all possible events that could happened were written in our taqdeer. Know it is on me what I did or which option did I slected. Allah written lot of options in my taqdeer at the same time in my life to select. what i selected its my choice. and I have to answer on it. So i concluded taqdeer is not only what I did or some one did with me but also all that optional actions that I could do or some one else can do. all these possible actions are written in our taqdeer.
Know angels dont have such options so they have only one order to follow. we human being have power of will. so our taqdeer have lot of options at the same time to do. Also given us guidance through messengers. We should carfull about aur actions because it is our aamaal اعمال .
Understanding the taqdeer in this way could solve lot of our misconceptions and it will also give easy and reasonable answer to non Muslims about this topic.
