The impact that larger Mainstream Media has is felt by the trans community as well. I'd be interested to see a similar study done about the number of transphobic articles that have come out in the US (or worse, the UK) in recent years.
There was just a study released showing a definitive link between transphobic laws being passed and increased rates of attempts at "unaliving oneself."

Even before this latest campaign by the occupiers facebook was being used to manipulate peoples views. From the outset it was obvious to me that there was something not right about a platform that wanted people to effectively put themselves into the hands of a corporation based on blind trust. That suspicion has been proven accurate by the way that personal data has been used and abused to sell not just products but ideologies. They did nothing to stop small localised groups from bullying individuals out of jobs or tormenting school kids so why would they stop when it comes to a nation like perpetuating the blatant rhetoric of the israeli regime. Anyone with a shred of world history rattling around their brain should recognise that its the same approach that was used in europe by germany in the 1930's in the run up to ww2 and the holocaust.

I always supported Israel (I'm 63yrs old & grew up in the Rhodesian war). My first 'this is not right' was the Sabra & Shatilla Massacres . Gaza however caused me to start reading up on the formation of Israel (to see how they got the land in the first place) & read a lot by Israeli modern historians & learnt of the apartheid system in Israel & ongoing expropriation of Palestinian land & homes. Social media also really opened my eyes. I'm mind boggled at how the west can keep up support for this apartheid system (I live in South Africa) . For the sake of the Palestinians please keep educating people about this.

I'm old enough that my Junior High history books went into great detail on both Arabian and Islamic topics. Enough so that our class nearly an entire semester studying about the history of the region, the people, the cultures, etc. Apparently, "Across the Centuries" was so bad that it triggered some Americans to have it pulled from classrooms because it had nearly 55 pages dedicated to Arabian and Islamic History, but less than 10 pages dedicated to Christianity. I even remember my teacher being confronted by some fundamentalist Christian classmates who wanted to know why we didn't spend as much time studying Christianity. His response: "Where will you be this Sunday? Church? Good, so you're already learning about Christianity!"

Speaking of Mainstream Media's culpability, Sky News just had an article about the 200 rockets Hesbollah fired at Israel, and they showed a picture of the Palestinian kid who burned to death from an Israeli air strike on the hospital. The juxtaposition of that photo with that articles headline made it seem like that picture was of the rocket attack, which killed NO civilians.
Misattributing photos of Israeli violence against Palestinians by attaching them to articles of Hamas or Hezbollah actions can only be deliberate.
