In my view, encouraging people to say the Shahada without knowledge or sincere conviction is not the right approach. If someone does not have true faith in their heart, they might even change their religion for something very small.
Instead, I believe it is better to encourage people to first study their own religion, then read the Holy Qur’an, compare with an open mind, and make a decision based on reason and sincere conviction.
Faith that comes through learning, reflection, and discovering the truth is much more lasting, and it motivates a person to continue growing and practicing the teachings of Islam.
This is simply my perspective as a Muslim brother who cares about the faith—perhaps it is not perfect, but this is how I understand it.
