Congratulation in General
One very well-known expression is:
بَارَكَ اللهُ لَكُم وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكُم وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ
Bārakallāhu lakum wa bāraka ʿalaykum wa jamaʿa baynakumā fī khayr.
Meaning:
“May Allah bless you and grant you peace, and may He join you together in joy.”
It’s mostly used at weddings but is also nice for other happy moments.
For the Birth of a Baby
When a baby comes into the world, say:
بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي الْمَوْهُوبِ لَكَ، وَشَكَرْتَ الْوَاهِبَ، وَبَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ، وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ.
Bārakallāhu laka fī-l-mawhūbi laka, wa shakartal-wāhiba, wa balagha ashuddahu, wa ruziqta birrahu.
Meaning:
“May Allah bless you with His gift and may you thank the Giver. May the child grow well and may you receive their good deeds.”
Success in Education or Career
When someone has reached an important step like finishing finals or getting a promotion people say:
مَبَارَكٌ عَلَيْكُمْ هَذَا النَّجَاحُ، جَعَلَهُ اللهُ سَبَبًا لِلْخَيْرِ وَالتَّوْفِيقِ فِي مَسِيرَتِكُمْ.
Mubārakun ʿalaykum hādhā-n-najāḥ, jaʿalahu Allāhu sababān lil-khayri wa-t-tawfīqi fī masīratikum.
Meaning:
“Congratulations on this success! May Allah make this a reason for goodness and guidance in your life.”
These duas can be a little different depending on time and occasion, yet the intent remains the same, praying for the blessings and goodness of the person.
Congratulations are sweet ways to express one’s gladness and share good thoughts. In Islam, making a dua at congratulations draws people closer to each other and invokes Allah’s blessing upon them.
Be it the birth of a baby or success, duas in such situations give deep meaning and a spiritual touch to your congratulatory messages.
These prayers make us share happiness and also pray for the safety of the person and his providence from Allah; hence, these moments become extra special.

- اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِمْ – Allahumma barik fihim: O Allah bless them.
Here are times when you can use the phrase “Allahumma barik”:
1. If You Admire Anything
When astonished at something – a person, an object, or even any achievement – say “Allahumma barik”. This saves from jealousy and at the same time evokes Allah’s blessings. For example,
Whenever anything impresses you, be it the health of someone, his money, or his beauty, you immediately say “Allahumma barik”, seeking that Allah blesses them.
2. At Congratulations
Somebody is telling you the good news new job, a baby, or something big accomplished you congratulate him and seek blessings by saying “Allahumma barik”.
For example, “Allahumma barik lak fi baytik” means “May Allah bless your house.”
